Since the establishment of the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) Credit Fund in 2022, the CEE Credit Fund has approved many credit facilities in countries including Lithuania, Hungary, Czech Republic, and Slovenia. In order to support Chi Mei Frozen Food Co., Ltd. (CMF), a well-known Taiwanese food manufacturer, to invest in the CEE country for the first time and expand its sales in the European market, the meeting of the CEE Credit Fund Review Committee has approved the first NTD case included as the loan currency of the Fund on October 31, 2023. This will enhance the investment project of CMF, thereby further strengthening bilateral economic and trade partnership between Taiwan and CEE Countries.
National Development Council (NDC) Minister Kung Ming-Hsin has announced to establish a value of USD 1 billion CEE credit fund last year. With cross-agency efforts, the NDC-led CEE Credit Fund has begun its operation since 2022, being executed by Taiwan EximBank with the aim of strengthening CEE countries' industrial connections with Taiwan and exploring potential projects with Taiwan Representative Offices in CEE countries. Considering that Taiwan and CEE countries respectively have their competitive industries and technologies which can support and complement each other to create mutually beneficial development, whichever of the enterprises from Taiwan and CEE countries is interested in investment projects or joint ventures in CEE countries is eligible for applications of the CEE Credit Fund. Furthermore, if both side enterprises are interested in building the stable supply chain or trade and procurement relationships, they can also apply for the CEE Credit Fund.
With flourishing interactions between Taiwan and CEE countries and bilateral complementary advantages, the potential and mutual benefits are expected to be considerable. Therefore, we encourage enterprises to make effective use of the CEE Credit Fund. We believe that the CEE Credit Fund will facilitate economic, industrial and trade cooperation between Taiwan and CEE countries. Thus, the long term and mutually beneficial partnership between Taiwan and CEE countries would be expected to be considerable and grow closer.
